The Desert of Maine in Freeport, Maine has been an iconic destination for almost 100 years. With a rich geological past, ecological environment, and historical backbone stretching hundreds of years, there are many fascinating stories to learn and share here. We have been undergoing a total revitalization starting in 2020 to bring this destination back to life as a fun, vibrant, educational destination.

Since 2020, we have made major updates to our campground, which is currently undergoing a final round of renovations to build cabins, glamping tents, and geodesic domes. In 2022, we opened an 18-hole mini golf course, along with a re-vamped snack bar and gift shop. Each year, we continue to build upon the experience that visitors have when they visit the dunes, from refining activities to building out new exhibits, including a new playground, a Fossil Dig exhibit, 1800s Farmhouse, Gemstone Village, and electric train ride, among others! We want our visitors to come here and find a place of wonder, magic, creativity, and an opportunity to connect with each other, with history, and with nature. Our staff play an important role in creating a fun, welcoming environment for our visitors. We are looking for people who can join us for one of our open roles and be part of rebuilding something unique and special for locals and tourists to enjoy!
